The Modern Flames Orion Traditional Electric Fireplace is a built-in electric fireplace engineered to replicate the depth, motion, and character of a real fire without venting or combustion.

Designed for installation into new or existing fireplace openings, this model uses HELIOVISION™ Flame Technology to display multi-dimensional flames derived from virtual flame footage rather than mechanical lighting effects. Multiple flame styles, adjustable colors, and synchronized ember bed lighting allow precise visual customization. Select models provide higher heat output when hardwired, while app-based controls, sound effects, and thermostat regulation support daily use.

Now available in V1 (Standard) and V2 (Enhanced Display) variants — V2 features an upgraded LCD display with sharper contrast, deeper blacks, adaptive brightness, enhanced TruWood™ lit logs, an active ember bed, Bluetooth audio streaming, and the Modern Flames+ app with over-the-air flame updates.

What is the difference between V1 and V2?

Both run the same HELIOVISION flame technology and heating system. V2 upgrades the display with sharper contrast, deeper blacks, and adaptive brightness, and adds enhanced TruWood lit logs, an active ember bed, Bluetooth audio streaming, and the Modern Flames+ app, which supports over-the-air flame style updates without requiring hardware changes.

What size openings does the Orion Traditional fit?

Five sizes are available: 26, 30, 36, 42, and 54 inches wide. All models require 10 inches of depth. Built-in trim conceals installation gaps, and optional surrounds are available for retrofit into existing masonry or framed openings.

How much heat does the Orion Traditional produce?

The 26 and 30-inch models output 5,000 BTU. The 36, 42, and 54-inch models output 8,300 BTU. All are thermostat-regulated between 66°F and 88°F, rated for spaces up to 450 sq. ft. as a supplemental heat source. The flame runs independently of heat and can be used year-round.

How do you control the Orion Traditional?

Through touch controls on the unit, the included remote, or the Modern Flames app via Wi-Fi. The app handles scheduling, thermostat control, and flame customization. V2 adds the Modern Flames+ app with over-the-air flame updates.

How does the Orion Traditional differ from the Orion Slim and Orion Multi?

The Traditional is built for installation into a fireplace opening, either new construction or an existing surround. The Slim is a linear front-facing unit for wall or 2x6 recessed installation. The Multi is a three-sided unit for open layouts and corner configurations. If you are retrofitting an existing fireplace, the Traditional is the right model.
