Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Triton rated for outdoor installation?

No. SimpliFire's own installation manual for this model states plainly not to use it outdoors, and it's UL/CSA listed as a fixed, location-dedicated indoor electric heater. If a listing for this fireplace shows an 'Outdoor' tag, that's a cataloging error on our end, not a manufacturer rating -- treat this as an indoor-only unit and plan the install accordingly.

How does the 3-sided viewing configuration affect installation?

This version is framed as a three-sided bay, so the flame is visible from the front and both ends rather than through a single pane. Per the manufacturer's installation manual, plan for roughly 12-7/16 in. to 12-15/16 in. of framing depth, 0 in. clearance at the sides, back, and floor, a 5/8 in. minimum clearance above to any mantel, and 36 in. of clearance in front. The same chassis also supports single-sided, two-sided corner, or wall-mount-with-floating-mantel configurations if a future install calls for a different layout, but this listing is set up and shipped for the three-sided bay install.

What is the "Crackling Sound" feature, and can it be turned off?

It's a built-in ambient sound effect, not a separate accessory. The control panel has a dedicated SOUND button that cycles through an 'Active Fire' crackle, a quieter 'Mature Fire' crackle, or off, with volume adjustable in five steps. It can be controlled from the appliance buttons, the included remote, the SmartLife app over Wi-Fi, or by voice through Alexa or Google Assistant once paired -- so if you'd rather have a silent flame, it's a one-button change, not a fixed feature.

Do the electrical requirements change between the 50", 65", and 78" Triton sizes?

No. Per the manufacturer's rating plate and installation manual, the SF-TR50, SF-TR65, and SF-TR78 all draw the same power: 120V/240V AC, 60Hz, 11.6A, 1400W (on 120V) or 2800W (on 240V) -- the electrical load doesn't scale with width. It's hardwire-only (no plug-in cord), installed by a licensed electrician. A 120V connection needs a minimum 15 AMP, 60Hz circuit and outputs about 5,000 BTU; a 240V connection needs a 20 AMP, 60Hz circuit and outputs about 10,000 BTU. A dedicated circuit isn't strictly required but is recommended to avoid nuisance breaker trips.

How do I connect this fireplace to Wi-Fi and voice assistants?

Pairing goes through the free Smart Life app (Apple App Store or Google Play), not a SimpliFire-branded app. Per the installation manual: turn the appliance on, press and hold the WIFI button on the control panel for 3 seconds until you hear three beeps and the ember bed blinks red, then in the app tap + > Add Device, select the appliance, and enter your Wi-Fi password. Only 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks are supported -- a 5 GHz-only network won't pair. Once connected, the manual's Wi-Fi Settings section covers the available voice commands for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, letting you control flame, ember, sound, and heat by voice once linked through the Smart Life skill/action.

Will this actually heat a room, and how many square feet does it cover?

SimpliFire's manual is explicit that this appliance is 'not intended for use as a primary heat source' and shouldn't be factored into residential heating calculations -- it's a supplemental/decorative heater. HHT doesn't publish a square-footage coverage figure for this model, and we've seen third-party retailers offer differing estimates we can't verify, so we won't quote one either. What is documented: on a 120V/15A circuit it puts out about 5,000 BTU, and on a 240V/20A circuit about 10,000 BTU. Realistically, expect it to take the chill off the immediate area rather than heat an entire open-concept room, especially in colder climates or larger spaces.
