Both come standard with the unit — a clear crystal media set and a driftwood log set are included, and either can be installed depending on the look you want. They aren't locked-in alternate purchase options.

If this fireplace is recessed into an exterior wall in a cooler climate, local code may require a chase around the unit that's insulated on all sides and fitted with a vapor/air barrier matching the rest of the home's envelope. Check with a local contractor familiar with your climate zone and code before framing.

SimpliFire's own spec comparison lists the Scion as hardwire-only — it's wired into a dedicated 15-amp, 120V/60Hz circuit rather than plugged into a standard outlet. A dedicated circuit isn't strictly required, but it's recommended to avoid nuisance breaker trips from other devices sharing the line. Plan for an electrician to run power to the rough-in location before the wall is closed up.

Per the owner's manual, dust the glass with a dry cloth and use a standard household glass cleaner on a damp cloth for fingerprints, then dry fully with a lint-free cloth — avoid abrasive cleaners and never spray liquid directly onto the unit. The painted metal exterior should only be wiped with a barely damp cloth, skipping chemical household cleaners there too. Always cut power at the wall switch or breaker before cleaning.

The Scion is backed by Hearth & Home Technologies' (SimpliFire's parent company) limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, starting from the installation date. Coverage varies by component — purchased replacement parts, for instance, carry a 1-year term — and it excludes normal wear items like batteries and glass discoloration, plus damage from improper installation or use outside SimpliFire's instructions. It only applies to units bought through an authorized SimpliFire dealer.
