Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between the 23" and 28" cast iron models?
Mainly width and flame viewing area. The 23" model is 23 1/8" wide with a 16 3/8" viewing area at 123.5 lbs; the 28" model is 27 7/8" wide with a 21" viewing area at 140.9 lbs. Both share the same 28 1/4" height and 17 1/2" depth.
Is the cast iron body actually real cast iron, or a plastic look-alike?
Real cast iron on the sides, top, and front, which is what gives it the weight (123-141 lbs depending on size) and the traditional European look rather than a lightweight composite shell.
Does it need to be installed, or does it just plug in?
It's plug-and-play with no mounting brackets, wall construction, or venting needed. It can also be hardwired with an optional wall thermostat if you'd rather not run a cord.
How loud is the fan when the heater's running?
About 43 dB, which is roughly the level of a quiet library, so it's not something you'd notice over normal conversation or TV.
What decorative media comes with it?
A 10-piece birch log set, charcoal grey fire glass, and both white and black vermiculite, so you have a few different looks to choose between without buying anything extra.
Can I run the flame without the heat on?
Yes, the flame effect runs independently of the heater, so it works as ambient lighting year-round, not just in cold months.
