Frequently Asked Questions
Does the log set come included, or is it separate?
Included. Unlike some vent-free fireplaces that require you to buy a log set separately, the Symphony ships complete with the exclusive 7-piece log set built into the fireplace and engine assembly.
What's the difference between Millivolt and Pilot control?
Millivolt runs off a standing pilot and a simple wall switch with no external power needed, so it still works in a power outage. The Pilot (IPI) option ignites electronically only when you turn the fireplace on, using less gas since there's no pilot burning continuously.
Does this need a chimney or exterior vent?
No, it's a vent-free system, so there's no chimney, flue, or exterior venting to plan for, which keeps installation faster and less expensive.
What electrical hookup does it need?
A 110-120VAC connection, and Monessen specifies it should be hardwired by a certified technician rather than plugged into a standard outlet.
Can I use fire glass instead of the traditional log look?
Yes, the Symphony is designed to work with either the traditional log style or a contemporary fireglass look, so you can match it to your decor beyond the standard included log set.
Can this be installed in a bedroom or bathroom?
No. Like all vent-free gas appliances, Monessen prohibits installation in bedrooms or bathrooms per the installation manual.
