Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to choose 3-sided, corner, or single-sided before I order?

No — the Scion Trinity ships as one unit with 2-inch and 1/2-inch trim pieces (six of each) included, used to finish and blank off whichever sides aren't exposed to view. The same unit works for three-sided, corner, or single-sided installations depending on how the surround is framed.

Does it come with a cabinet or stand for freestanding use?

No. This is a built-in unit only — it installs into framing (three-sided, corner, or single-sided) or into an optional wall-mounted cabinet or mantel kit. Those cabinet/mantel kits are sold separately and are not included with the fireplace.

Do I need an electrician, or can I just plug it in?

A plug-in power cord is included, so a standard grounded outlet works out of the box. This unit is also hardwire-ready if you'd rather run a permanent hardwired connection — that route requires a licensed electrician.

What electrical circuit does the Scion Trinity require?

Per the SimpliFire owner's manual, this unit needs a minimum 15-amp, 120V/60Hz circuit (1,500W). A dedicated circuit isn't strictly required, but is recommended — if other appliances share the same circuit, you may see breaker trips or dimming lights when the heater is running.

How much clearance to combustible materials does the framing need?

Per the SimpliFire installation manual, required clearance to combustible construction is 0 inches on the sides, back, top, floor, and mantel (mantel depth is unlimited), with 36 inches of clearance required in front of the appliance. Keep cords, drapery, and other combustibles at least 3 feet from the front during operation.

What's covered under the warranty?

This unit carries a 2-year manufacturer's warranty from Hearth & Home Technologies (SimpliFire's parent company), covering parts and labor for defects in materials and workmanship. Coverage begins at the installation date, or no later than 24 months after the product ships if installation isn't documented. Full conditions and exclusions are listed in the owner's manual.
